Securing the Future of Indiana’s Greenways
2010 Luncheon a Great Success
Nearly 200 Indiana trails supporters gathered on April 13 for the third annual Greenways Foundation luncheon. The event was held at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.
Keynote speaker was Willie Weir; author, columnist, and NPR commentator on bicycling and world bicycle travel. Willie’s presentation was captivating to say the least. He talked about how he discovered the freedom that bicycling provided him as a young boy growing up in California. And he discussed how that freedom to travel and experience new cultures has shaped his adult life. He then tied the entire experience he has had with the fact that an early trail in Sacramento was his artery from transportation.
Willie was so well received that we are contemplating having him return in 2011 for another of his stories about bicycle travel in foreign lands.
The luncheon would not have been possible without the support of our many corporate sponsors. We give our thanks to them for understanding how trails and greenways can make the environment in which we all live so much more attractive and productive.
