The Loop Trail is a quiet getaway in a busy, growing corner of the county.

One of our least-discovered greenways is the Upper Fall Creek Loop Trail in the northeast corner of Marion County. Its parking lot is adjacent to Fall Creek Road just south of 79th Street and is marked with a roadside sign.

This 1.5-mile trail is surfaced with crushed limestone, ideal for walking and jogging. It loops a long, narrow overflow pond for Fall Creek, so its eastern shore section sometimes floods during and after heavy rainfall. Greenways plans are to extend the Fall Creek Trail to the Loop Trail sometime in the future.
