Who we are

Anita Knowles, President

Anita Knowles

Anita serves as the current president of the Greenways Foundation and has been on the board since January 2007. Previously, Anita served on the Greenwood Trails Advisory Board for three years and started another local group, Center Grove Trails, which she continues to chair. Anita also is a public servant, winning election to the Johnson County Council for a four-year term in 2006 and again in 2010. Combined with her previous experience of owning two small businesses and volunteering for a local citizens action group in Center Grove, she brings dedicated leadership skills and a willingness to collaborate to achieve goals.

Karen Bohn, Vice President

Karen Bohn

Karen is a nurse practitioner, a profession she has enjoyed. Karen’s passions include loving and supporting her family of three children and six grandchildren in their life’s endeavors. She is an advocate for bicycling, physical fitness and a healthy living life style. Karen supported her advocacies by being involved with the development of the Carmel Monon Greenway and continues being involved with the Greenways Foundation, Bicycle Indiana and Gleaners Food Bank. As a Carmel resident, Karen enjoys the trail and bicycling amenities, varied activities and shopping conveniences that the community and surrounding area provide.

Jenny Wilz, Secretary

Jenny Wilz

Jenny has spent the last 15 years, along with her husband Mick, riding and visiting trails all over the country and bringing those experiences back to help bring accessible trails, all kinds of trails, to Hoosiers, beginning with the Whitewater Canal Trail. Currently directing payroll, benefits and wellness at Sur-Seal, she has served on the Franklin County Community Foundation and led the local 4-H horse and pony club for more than 10 years.

Bill Barks, Treasurer

Bill Barks

As a certified public accountant, Bill brings a wealth of experience and skills to the treasurer’s position. He has extensive experience providing tax, retirement planning and business consulting services for clients of Katz, Sapper & Miller, where he is a partner in the Employee Benefit Plan Services Group. In addition to serving the Foundation, Bill is active with several professional associations.

Mitch Barloga

Mitch Barloga

Mitch Barloga is the Non-Motorized Transportation and Greenways Planner for the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC). His primary duties include working with all governmental entities in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties on securing funding for and improving pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and scouting properties for open space conservation and recreation possibilities. Mitch is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and received a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago after undergraduate studies in Landscape Architecture at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Mitch serves as President of the Friends of the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Rebuilding Together of South Lake County. He is also a founding member of Crown Point Safe Pathways, and actively participates with the regional non-motorized advocacy group, South Shore Trails.

Dawn Ritchie

Dawn Ritchie

Dawn oversees the 60-mile Fort Wayne Trails network and is involved with the planning, design and construction of more than 100 additional miles of trails in Fort Wayne and Allen County. She strongly supports the local non-profit greenway advocacy group, Fort Wayne Trails, and currently oversees nine federally-funded trail projects in addition to numerous locally-funded projects. Dawn promotes greenways at the regional and tri-state level and works closely with state and national trail committees. Her passions include greenways, parks, conservation and animal rights.

Shaunna Graf

Shaunna Graf

Shaunna has been the project coordinator for the Ohio River Greenway Commission since 2007, bringing experience project managing for the wireless industry since 1998. Shaunna enjoys using the trails all over Indiana but Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky are the easiest to spend time on because they are so close.
